The Boston Cocktail Summit 2012 | BeantownEats {We Eat It. You ...

This October, the cocktail world will descend on Boston for an inaugural summit. Sponsored by the Greater Boston Beverage Society, this event will be a celebration of Boston?s rich and meaningful history of spirits, cocktails and bars, and place the spotlight on current concepts in the industry nation-wide. The Boston Cocktail Summit is sure to please all levels of imbibing beginners, industry professionals and spirit connoisseurs alike. Here?s a brief overview of what you can expect during this three-day event.

When and Where:
October 4-6th at the Royal Sonesta, the Park Plaza Boston and local establishments in the area.

After the detailed research that Wondrich has done for this books, this seminar is sure to delve into Boston?s cocktail history.
  • Whiskey & Women with Joy Richard and Brandy Rand. We?re excited to see how these two amazing women break down the stereotype of the good ole boys club with this interactive educational and tasting session.
  • The History and Change of the Downtown ?Bar Culture with Josh Childs, John Gertsen, Tom Mastricola & Ryan Mcgrale. Who better to learn from than those who are in the thick of it? Boston has risen to become, in our opinions, one of the best cities for cocktail and these fine gentleman will take us from where we use to be and how we got to where we are now.
  • Modern History of Boston Craft Cocktails with Jackson Cannon. ?Bostonians know Cannon?s reputation preceeds him. ?For those that don?t, find out at this session. ?The man is cocktail genius.
  • The English Ginvasion and How to Make Great Gin Cocktails at Home. ?Because sometimes we just don?t want to travel into the city for a good cocktail; learn how to make a great gin drink in the comfort of your own home.
  • How to Order a Great Wine Every Time with Sandy Block. We?ve all sat at a restaurant table, nervously pouring over an extensive wine: Do I order something expensive so it?s bound to be good? How can I select something that the whole table will enjoy? Learn the answers to these questions with Block so the next time all eyes are on you, you can choose a wine like an expert. ?Sounds like a great skill to us!
  • Global Drinking Rituals with Elayne Duke. We definitely want to know the history behind a Pickleback!
  • Beer & Spirits: How Opposites really do Attract! ? Troy Clarke & John Gertsen. Clarke has been running his own cocktail classes and is sure to entertain. ?Gertsen?s impressive resume speaks for itself.
